SSL stands for Secure Socket Layer and is an important security protocol that allows websites to connect securely over the internet. Using SSL, all data that passes between the client and server is encrypted so that hackers cannot see what is being transmitted. This technology is critical for protecting user information, including passwords and credit card details, and has been widely backed by the search engine Google.

SSL certificates are generated by a Certificate Authority (CA). These CAs are outside organizations that are trusted in the market, and create and make available different SSL formats.

Before you install an SSL certificate on your web server, ensure that you have the certificate code (CSR) provided to you by your Certificate Authority. You can generate this CSR with a few simple steps, and then use it to create the SSL certificate you need on your own web server.

First, download the certificate files you need from your Certificate Authority. You can find the file on their website or contact them directly for a download link. The files should have 5 dashes “-” on either side of the BEGIN CERTIFICATE and END CERTIFICATE lines.

Once you have the files, place them in a folder named SSL/crt and upload them to your server. You can use a ftp server or other software to upload the files. You should also include a passphrase when importing the certificates to your server.

Then, you will need to bind the SSL certificate to the website that you want it to be used on. To do this, navigate to the Connections menu in the UI and select your website.

You can then click on the Bindings button to add the SSL certificate. In the Bindings window that appears, select the Type and enter “https” in the drop-down box.

After the SSL certificate has been binded to your website, you will need to check that it is working properly. The best way to do this is to try connecting to your website from a variety of browsers, and see that you see the padlock icon in the address bar. If you see that it is working, your site is now protected and your customers will be able to trust your business.

It’s also recommended to test your SSL certificate by logging into the domain name of the site you wish to protect and browsing that URL. If you have a valid certificate, you should see a padlock icon in the address bar and the website’s name should be green to indicate that it is secure.

If the padlock icon does not appear in the address bar, your SSL certificate is not installed correctly and you need to re-install it on the web server. To do this, follow the instructions in Step 2 above.
